Frescolita was launched in 1956 by the company Hit de Venezuela in an attempt to take market shares from Coca-Cola who dominated the soft drink market. As with everywhere else Coca-Cola is market leader but Frescolita does hold 10% of the Venezuelan soft drink market. It is a fixture at parties and birthdays.
Ironically, Frescolita was purchased by Coca-Cola FEMSA in 1996.
Frescolita is not a cola and does not contain kola nut. It tastes like bubble gum.
