Zandukeli Cola
Zandukeli is a Georgian brand of lemonades that over the years has been exported to countries including China, Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, and the United States. Since the 2010s the brand was produced by Castel Sakartvelo, a Georgian brewery established in 1996 by the French beverage group Castel. In 2016 Castel sold its Georgian brewing assets to Royal Swinkels Family Brewers, a Dutch brewing company. The operation was later renamed Argo. In December 2017 Argo presented an updated Zandukeli lemonade range in beautiful glass bottles, maintaining the existing flavor assortment.
According to the brand’s storytelling, it was established in Paris in 1914, when a Georgian nobleman named Niko Zandukeli fell in love and spent two years formulating a lemonade dedicated to his chosen one. No historical documentation has been identified confirming the existence of such an enterprise in Paris in 1914, and the story does not indicate whether the intended recipient accepted the gesture.
Zandukeli Cola is a later addition to the range. The earliest confirmed production date is November 2022, and no earlier reference to a cola variant has been identified. The cola is not individually branded but is instead presented as an extension of the existing lemonade range.
