Xamego Cola / Glub Cola
First appearing in Brazil in 2008, the Xamego series was introduced in large 3-liter PET bottles as a value-for-money soft drink aimed at household consumption. The original lineup comprised five flavors, including cola, orange, and lemon. The range was later expanded with 2-liter bottles and cans, and the assortment was broadened to include juices alongside carbonated drinks. During this phase, the large 3-liter bottles were marketed under the name Xamego Glub. Around 2017 the brand was simplified and effectively reset to its original concept: a five-flavor soft-drink range sold exclusively in 3-liter bottles, now under the name Glub.
The producer, New Age Bebidas, was founded in 1988 following the acquisition of Guaraná Cruzeiro, a regional soft-drink producer established in 1948 and best known for its guaraná soda of the same name. Production remains centered at the Leme facility in São Paulo state, where Guaraná Cruzeiro is still made today. Over time, New Age has expanded far beyond its original focus and now manufactures more than 300 brands across a wide spectrum of beverages, including soft drinks, energy drinks, beer, vodka, and juices.
Xamego/Glub were not New Age’s first ventures into soft drinks. For some years the company also produced the Country series, which consisted of cola, orange, and guaraná flavors. Country was positioned in a similar mass-market segment but was discontinued in early 2013.
