Sublime Cola

โ€œNot diet. Not functional. Not trying to fix your life.โ€ That is how UnPop! introduces its take on cola. The Dallas, Texas company launched Sublime Cola on June 3, 2026, entering a market where cola has increasingly split into different camps: traditional full-sugar cola, diet and zero-sugar versions with alternative sweeteners, and a newer wave of functional sodas.

UnPop! wants no part of any of them. Its marketing repeatedly takes aim at functional drinks in particular. โ€œLess function, more fun,โ€ the company says. Elsewhere, the message is even simpler: โ€œThe only function is having fun.โ€ Prebiotics and โ€œgut scienceโ€ are dismissed along with high-fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners. The idea is to sell soda as soda, without promising that it will improve your digestion or, as UnPop! puts it, โ€œfix your life.โ€ The company sums it up as โ€œsoda, unjunked.โ€

With its purple-and-pink color scheme, Sublime Cola stands out from the cola crowd.

That leaves Sublime Cola attempting to occupy a fourth space in the market. It contains sugar and caffeine, so it is not a diet cola, but at 4.5 grams of sugar per 100 ml, it contains less than half the sugar of Coca-Cola Classic. It is sweetened with organic California dates.

Date syrup is made by extracting and concentrating the naturally occurring sugars in dates. Its dark color and caramel-like flavor make it particularly well suited to cola. Sublime Cola is not the first to use it: Saudi Arabian Milaf Cola and Russian Sportofino Date Cola are two other recent examples of colas sweetened with dates.
