Proviant Cola and NaturCola
Proviant is a German beverage brand based in Berlin. The company was founded in 2009 by three young friends and initially focused on the production of freshly made smoothies. In 2012, the product range was expanded to include organic lemonades, with apple and lemon among the first variants. The products are made with organic ingredients and are marketed as vegan and fair trade.
Proviant introduced its first cola products in April 2016 with the launch of the NaturCola range. This initially consisted of two caffeine-free variants, NaturCola and NaturCola & Orange. In March 2017, a caffeinated variant, NaturCola & Guarana, was added. The guarana variant remained in production for approximately one year, while NaturCola and NaturCola & Orange continued until early 2021. NaturCola contained 8.8 g of organic cane sugar per 100 ml.

In October 2018, Proviant launched a separate cola under the name Proviant Cola. This product contains caffeine and 9.6 g of organic cane sugar per 100 ml. Proviant Cola is also available in a sugar-free version, sweetened with sodium cyclamate, acesulfame K, and aspartame. Proviant Cola was introduced while the NaturCola range was still in production, and the two cola lines therefore coexisted for a period of time.
The discontinuation of the NaturCola range in early 2021 was part of a wider change to the product portfolio following Proviant becoming part of Krombacher, a large German brewing group that owns several beverage brands. The NaturCola variants were immediately phased out, and the smoothie production that had formed the basis of Proviant’s original business was discontinued within the following year.
As of early 2026, Proviant Cola and Proviant Cola Zuckerfrei remain in production.
