Palestine Cola

Introduced in Malmö, Sweden, on March 6, 2024, this cola was launched as a politically symbolic soft drink. Featuring the Palestinian flag and the slogan “Freedom for Palestine,” it was created to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause and to offer an alternative to the big cola brands.

The drink was developed by Younes Al-Khatib, a Malmö-based entrepreneur originally from Palestine. His intention was to establish a beverage brand that supported the Palestinian people and offered a locally produced alternative to international corporations. Palestine Cola is produced and distributed from Sweden.

Palestine Cola is part of a broader trend of soft drinks associated with political or cultural messages. Earlier examples include Mecca Cola (launched in France in 2002), Qibla Cola (United Kingdom, 2003), and Salaam Cola (Ireland, 2023). These beverages were created as alternatives to Western cola brands, often with a focus on supporting Muslim or pro-Palestinian values.
