OK Cola (Italy)

One of several OK or Okey colas available around the world is this one from Dodó Commercial, based in Perugia, Italy. OK Cola was launched in early 2019 and was introduced together with OK Aranjoy, an orange-flavored soft drink.

Dodó Commercial was founded around 2018 with the intention of producing soft drinks with reduced sugar content and without preservatives and artificial colorants. This approach was first applied to the Tipico di Sicilia range, which focuses on traditional Sicilian flavors such as mandarin and pomegranate. These Sicilian classics were quickly followed by the OK line, which added cola and orange-flavored beverages to the company’s portfolio.

OK Cola contains 4.1 g of sugar per 100 ml, which is substantially lower than the level typically found in mainstream colas, usually around 10–11 g per 100 ml. The formulation combines sugar with the sweeteners acesulfame K and sucralose. Despite the company’s stated ambition of minimizing additives, caramel color (E150d) is added to OK Cola, where it serves a purely cosmetic purpose and has no effect on flavor or aroma.
