Malferida Cola
Among Spain’s more unconventional colas was Malferida Cola, launched in Valencia in 2018. It distinguished itself by containing no caffeine and by using agave syrup as a sweetener, positioning the drink as a local and slightly healthier alternative to the big international brands.
The company behind Malferida was founded as a small Valencian start-up with a deliberate outsider profile. Its name, meaning “badly injured” in Valencian, underlined a rebellious identity and a desire to challenge the dominance of global soft drink producers while emphasizing regional roots.
After several years of niche distribution and modest attention, the brand faded from view. The last activity from the producer was recorded in October 2023, and Malferida Cola appears since then to have disappeared from the market.
