Knutwiler Kolawasser
In June 2021, Mineralquellen Bad Knutwil in Switzerland expanded its soft drink range with the launch of Knutwiler Kolawasser. The cola built on the company’s tradition of health-focused mineral water products and carried the same branding as its fruit-flavored sodas. Still available as of February 2025, the product was discontinued by June that year.
The mineral spring in Bad Knutwil was first mentioned in a document from 1461 and had already gained a reputation as a spa destination. By the 1780s, people from around the world were traveling to central Switzerland to bathe in its reputedly healing waters. Commercial bottling began only in 1946, and it would take several more decades before the company started producing soft drinks—initially in classic fruit flavors such as apple, raspberry, blueberry, and lemon.
Today, Mineralquellen Bad Knutwil remains a relatively small Swiss producer rooted in the region’s spa heritage. Its foray into cola was a natural extension of its flavored water line, merging the health associations of mineral water with the popularity of a more mainstream beverage.
