Kingpin Kola, Bear ‘n Beaver Kola, Canada Cola

The company Double D Beverage Co. from British Columbia, Canada, was founded in 2005 by two British expats, Drayson and DeBanks. The company was established with the idea of creating “functional” beverages that taste great and use high-quality ingredients. The first product was the energy drink Beaver Buzz, which was also launched in 2005.

Following the success with energy drinks, the company ventured into making soft drinks, and in March 2009, the first cola was born: Canadian Cola, which contained kola nut, nutmeg, and —of course— “a hint of maple syrup.” The line of soft drinks was discontinued shortly after, with the latest being in 2011.

In 2016, however, they tried again with soft drinks—this time with the Crim City line, which featured drinks like Brawler’s Bubblegum, Renegade Root Beer, and Kingpin Kola. Around the same time, Double D Beverage Co. launched the Bear ‘n Beaver line, which initially only carried a ginger beer but expanded in 2017 to also include a root beer and a kola.

The Crim City line was discontinued in early 2019. While the Bear ‘n Beaver line still exists in 2024, the Kola was discontinued at the latest in 2020 and perhaps as early as 2017.

Kingpin Kola was launched in 2016 and discontinued in 2019 with the rest of the Crim City Soda line.
Bear ‘n Beaver Kola was introduced in 2017 and discontinued shortly after.
