Jarritos is a Mexican soft drink manufacturer and also the name of its line of carbonated soft drinks. Their sodas are based on natural flavours, e.g. melon, lime, strawberry, and mandarin. Among the flavours are also cola, named Mexican Cola referring to the Mexican cane sugar that is used as sweetener.
Jarritos was founded in 1950 by chemist Francisco Hill. When “Coffee Soda” (cold, cabonated coffee) failed, he tried mandarin, tamarind, and lime flavours instead with great success. By the 1960s Jarritos was available across Mexico in several flavours.
In 1989 Jarritos was introduced in USA and has some popularity among the Hispanich population across The States. In 2011 Jarritos launched a campaign towards non-Hispanic males age 18-24 in order to take market shares outside the Hispanic audience. The success of this campaign is uncertain.
Outside Mexico the distribution and marketing is maintained by Novamex, El Paso, Texas. It is a subsidiary of Jarritos’.
