Highway Cola

Produced by Refresco, Highway Cola is a low-cost soft drink available in regular and sugar-free variants. It is primarily distributed through discount supermarkets across Europe, either as a private label or a generic budget brand. The product features simple packaging and a standard cola taste profile.

Highway Cola is sweetened with a peculiar mix of glucose-fructose syrup, sugar, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharinate, and aspartame.

Refresco is a Dutch beverage company founded in 1999 through the merger of Menken Drinks (Netherlands) and Refrescos (Germany). Headquartered in Rotterdam, the company has grown to become the world’s largest independent bottler for retailers and branded beverage companies. Refresco was acquired by PAI Partners (France) and PSP Investments (Canada) in 2018.

In addition to Highway Cola, Refresco produces a wide range of cola brands, including Freeway Cola (for Lidl), River Cola (for Aldi), Topstar Cola, and various regional and supermarket-specific labels.
