Gaza Cola

Presented as a “guilt-free, genocide-free” alternative to mainstream cola brands, this London-based soft drink was launched in August 2024 with the goal of supporting Palestinian communities and funding the reconstruction of al-Karama Hospital in Gaza. All profits are directed toward rebuilding Gaza’s maternity ward, making the drink both a political statement and a fundraising tool.

The founder of Gaza Cola, Osama Qashoo, fled Palestine in 2003, and is known for his work as a filmmaker, political activist, and co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement. He later helped launch the Palestine House cultural centre in London and the Hiba Express food brand. With Gaza Cola, he advocates “trade, not aid” as a path to empowerment and independence for Palestinians.

The drink follows a trend of politically conscious colas, including Mecca Cola (France, 2002), Qibla Cola (UK, 2003), and Zamzam Cola (Iran), all launched as Muslim-friendly or pro-Palestinian alternatives to Western brands. More recently, Palestine Cola (Sweden, 2024) and Salaam Cola (Ireland, 2023) has joined this category, combining beverage production with political expression.
