Gayla Cola
Gayla was a private-label line of soft drinks—including a cola—marketed by Topco Associates for member grocery chains. The brand was introduced in the early 1960s (Topco applied to register the trademark in 1960), and the brand was still in use in 1982.
Topco Associates, with roots in the WWII era, is a member-owned cooperative that pools independent grocers’ buying power to create private-label products, negotiate pricing and quality, and coordinate logistics—so smaller chains can compete with national brands.
