Fizz Cola (France)

Produced by the Bordeaux-based company Maison Meneau, Fizz Cola is an organic cola introduced in 2014. Prior to the bottled cola, the company began producing cola syrup in 2013, intended as a mixer. The carbonation used in the soda is derived from fermented corn sourced in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department.

The producer traces its origins to 1879, when eaux-de-vie (fruit brandies) were distilled at the port of Bordeaux. In 1921, the company was taken over by Maurice Meneau, who initiated the production of caramels, colorants, and syrups used in the manufacture of spirits including rum and cognac. After the Second World War, ownership changed again, and the company created and developed its first ranges of fruit- and plant-based syrups. Since the 1990s, the company has produced only certified organic products.

The cola contains 10 g of cane sugar per 100 ml. It is also available in a reduced-sugar “allégée” variant containing 4.3 g of sugar per 100 ml, sweetened with organic agave syrup and stevia.
