Dram Mushroom Cola

Now here is a cola that stands out. Dram Mushroom Cola was launched in July 2022 by Heyseed, a beverage producer based in rural Colorado, United States.

The defining ingredients are four adaptogenic mushrooms: shiitake, cordyceps, lion’s mane, and chaga. Adaptogenic refers to substances that are described as supporting the body’s response to stress. In addition to mushroom extracts, the drink contains organic nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, lemon peel, orange peel, and vanilla, like you would expect in a traditional cola.

The drink is sugar-free and is sweetened with glycerin-based herbal extracts. According to the producer, glycerin provides a light sweetness, does not affect blood sugar, and contains no calories. Dram Mushroom Cola does not contain caramel color, either, which means the drink is clear in appearance.

However, it also does not contain kola nut! Not even artificial kola nut essences. So is this even a cola at all?
