Double Cola

Production of Double Cola began in 1933 under the ownership of The Double Cola Company, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was founded in 1922 in Huntsville, Alabama by former Chero-Cola employees Charles D. Little and Joe S. Foster under the name Good Grape Company, established to market the grape soda Good Grape. In 1924 the business was renamed Seminole Flavor Company, and in the same year it introduced Marvel Cola. The product was later rebranded as Jumbo Cola. In 1933 Jumbo Cola was withdrawn and replaced by Double-Cola. At that time, leading U.S. cola producers sold their beverages in 6.5 oz bottles, while Double-Cola was bottled in 12 oz bottles. After approximately two decades, the company adopted the name The Double Cola Company.

The beverage contains approximately 11 g of high fructose corn syrup per 100 ml. The formulation includes kola nut. A sugar-free variant was introduced in 1962 under the name Diet Way and was shortly thereafter renamed Diet Double-Cola. Diet Double Cola is sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame K.

The Double Cola Company also produces citrus-flavored soft drinks under the SKI brand and fruit-flavored soft drinks under the Jumbo brand. Distribution takes place primarily within the United States, with additional international markets supplied through export and licensing agreements.
