Dobry Cola or Good Cola was introduced to the Russian colaholics in August or September 2022. It is produced by Multon Partners in Moscow which is owned by Coca-Cola HBC, who produces and distributes Coca-Cola in around 30 European countries.
Dobry Cola is a direct result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Two weeks later Coca-Cola announced that it would withdraw from the Russian market. And indeed, in Russia it is only possible to purchase a Coca-Cola on the black market since the Russian government made it illegal to parallel import Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
And so it happened that Coca-Cola is now instead making Dobry Cola.
Dobry Cola is different from Coca-Cola and not just Coca-Cola with a new label on it as is the case with Pepsi-Cola which after the Russian invasion in Ukraine have been rebranded as Evervess-Cola in Russia.
The company Multon started in St. Petersburg in the 1990s making juice and smoothies under the brand Dobry (Добрый). It now dominates the juice market in Russia. In the 2000s the company was purchased by Coca-Cola HBC, relocated to Moscow, and started bottling and distributing Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite etc. in Russia.
In March 2022 Coca-Cola was withdrawn from the Russian market, and Multon instead started making cola and orange soft drinks under the already well-known Dobry brand.
