Bec Cola

The Montreal based Bec Cola (cola from Quebec) was introduced in 2014 by Bec Soda Inc. and remained in circulation until the early 2020s. Available evidence indicates that the product was still present on the market in autumn 2023 and had been withdrawn from retail distribution before autumn 2024. The company stated that it was the first, and for several years the only, soft drink producer to use maple syrup as the primary sweetener, and it emphasized the use of organic and locally sourced ingredients.

Bec Soda Inc. was founded by three friends from Montreal and launched Bec Cola in 2014. In its first year, the company reported sales of approximately 50,000 bottles, followed by around 500,000 bottles sold in 2015. In June 2016, the range was expanded with two additional variants, lime and cranberry.

The primary market for Bec Cola was Quebec, although the product was also available in other parts of Canada. From August 2017, Bec Cola was available in the United Kingdom, and there was limited export to France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

From the late 2010s, the company’s public activity declined. The last recorded post on its Twitter account dates from April 2019, and the official website ceased to function in autumn 2021. Despite this, Bec Cola continued to appear in consumer discussions and visual documentation through 2023, indicating continued circulation during that period.
